Sample figures at a demo rate of 8 c/kWh. Your retailer sets your real feed-in rate.
Battery sell-back
Your battery can sell stored solar to the grid when prices are highest, usually in the evening, instead of giving it away cheaply at midday. This normally needs a battery-friendly plan or a virtual power plant (VPP) with your retailer.
Sell battery at peak pricesOff. Stored energy stays for your own use.
How selling works in Australia
Surplus solar is exported to the grid automatically and your retailer credits you through its feed-in tariff. Nothing to switch on.
Feed-in rates are set by each retailer, so they differ a lot. Many pay less in the middle of the day and more in the evening.
Solar Pilot will track what you export and what you earn, and will optimise when to export or hold battery charge once your inverter is linked.

Origin LoopOrigin Energy's virtual power plant for compatible home batteries
We've asked Origin for partner access. If approved, you would authorise Solar Pilot to show your VPP plan, export events and earnings here. Solar Pilot stays read-only - Origin runs the battery, enrolment and all payments.

Tesla PowerwallPilot - read-only monitoring, owner approval required
Owner needs: the Tesla email + password that owns the Powerwall, signed in on Tesla's own website (Solar Pilot never sees it), and to approve energy read access on Tesla's consent screen. No car access, no battery control. After that, Cherri enables pilot access before readings show.
You are in Solar Pilot (this website). Tap Check status below.
Tap the Sign in with Tesla (Powerwall only - no car access) link that appears - it opens Tesla's own sign-in website.
On Tesla's website, sign in with the Tesla account that owns your Powerwall. Solar Pilot never sees your password.
On Tesla's screen, approve energy access: readings only, no car access, no battery control.
Back here in Solar Pilot, tap Check status to request pilot access. You'll see your request registered.
Wait for approval - Cherri enables your access and lets you know.
Tap Check status again. If the connection works, your battery charge and live solar, home and grid power appear here. The first time, open the official Tesla app on your phone - the one where you already view your Powerwall - and check the numbers match.
GoodWeAwaiting official API access - password sign-in is not offered
Owner needs: nothing to enter yet. Blocked on one thing: GoodWe granting Solar Pilot official API access (openapi.goodwe.com approves developer accounts; SEMS+ owner accounts have no self-serve key, and SEMS+ passwords are never accepted here). Once granted, the owner only confirms consent - no password typed in Solar Pilot.
Alpha ESSBeta - not yet tested on a real system
Owner needs: inverter serial number and check code (both on the inverter label, or in the Alpha ESS app under system info), plus the verification code Alpha sends to the owner's Alpha app on first link.
SigenergyBeta - not yet tested on a real system
Owner needs: the System ID from the mySigen app (open the plant, Setting > three-dots > Basic Info), then to approve Solar Pilot's read-only access request in the mySigen app when it arrives. No password is typed in Solar Pilot.
SungrowComing soon - manufacturer approval needed
Owner needs: nothing to enter yet. Blocked on one thing: Sungrow approving a developer application for Solar Pilot - iSolarCloud's open API works that way, then each plant owner authorizes their own plant.
FroniusComing soon - connection route in development
Owner needs: nothing to enter yet. The free Fronius Solar API only answers on the home network, which this website cannot reach; Solar.web cloud access needs a paid Fronius licence. A workable route is in development.
EnphasePrivate testing - not open to customers yet
Owner needs: nothing to enter yet. Enphase's licence terms are accepted and the app is registered; connection stays in private testing until the first real-system test and Enphase's written approval for public use. After that, the owner signs in on Enphase's own website and approves exactly what Solar Pilot may read (system details, production, consumption). The free Watt plan includes 1,000 API calls per month.
SolarEdgeBeta - not yet tested on a real system
Owner needs: Site ID and a site-level API key, both from the SolarEdge monitoring portal under Site Admin > Site Access > API Access (owner or installer generates the key there).
GrowattComing soon - installer-level token needed
Owner needs: nothing to enter yet. Blocked on one thing: Growatt issues API tokens at installer level - no owner self-serve token has been verified. In development.
Fox ESSBeta - not yet tested on a real system
Owner needs: inverter serial number and a personal API key they create in Fox ESS Cloud under User Profile > API Management.
Owner needs: nothing to enter yet. Blocked on one thing: Huawei FusionSolar's API needs an installer or company account - owner accounts have no API key. In development.
SolaXBeta - not yet tested on a real system
Owner needs: the wifi dongle registration number (wifiSn, on the dongle label or in the SolaX app) and a SolaXCloud API token (tokenId) - sign in to SolaXCloud and open Service > API to get one. If the API page is not open on the account, SolaX service enables it on request.
BYDNo separate connection - read via the inverter
Owner needs: nothing for BYD itself. BYD batteries have no standalone owner cloud API - their data is read through the inverter they are paired with (Fronius, GoodWe, Sungrow and others). Pick the inverter's brand from this list instead.
SonnenComing soon - local network connection in development
Owner needs: nothing to enter yet. Blocked on one thing: sonnen's read-only API answers on the home network only, which this website cannot reach. A workable route is in development.
VictronBeta - not yet tested on a real system
Owner needs: VRM installation ID (from the VRM portal URL or site settings) and a read-only access token they create in VRM under Preferences > Integrations.
